Piercing the nose to wear jewellery

Question

Women pierce the nose and ears in order to wear jewellery. Is this permissible or not?

Answer

It is permissible. [ar]لا بأس بثقب أذن البنت، وهل تجوز الخزاء في الأنف؟ لم أره اهـ در مختار. قلت: إن كان مما يتزين به النساء كما هو في بعض البلاد فهو فيها كثقب القرط[/ar] “There is no harm in piercing a girl’s ear. Is al-khiza’ (a ring?) in the nose permissible? I have not seen it” (al-Durr al-Mukhtar).
