Wearing the Rampuri cap

Question

Question: Zayd told Asghar that wearing any cap (?) — a genuine Rampuri cap — is contrary to the Sunna?

Answer

Wearing such a cap is not established from the Prophet ﷺ, but it does not follow that a cap which is not established is impermissible: the criterion of impermissibility is something else. However, it would not be correct to call it sunna, and wearing it will not bring the reward of the sunna.
