Evidence for wearing a cap

Question: Please present a narration on this matter — I do not have any such book. Set out a narration from which the Prophet’s ﷺ practice of covering the head, i.e. wearing a cap on the head, would become known.

Answer

[ar]واعلم أنه ﷺ كانت له عمامة سوداء تسمى السحاب، وكان يلبس تحتها القلانس، جمع قلنسوة، وهي غشاء مبطن يستتر به الرأس، قاله الفراء، وقال غيره: هي التي تسميها العامة الشامية والعرافية. وروى الطبراني وأبو الشيخ والبيهقي في شعب الإيمان من حديث ابن عمر: كان رسول الله ﷺ يلبس قلنسوة ذات آذان يلبسها في السفر، وربما وضعها بين يديه إذا صلى، وإسناده ضعيف.
