The round cap

Question

Question: Is wearing a round cap a sunna, and what kind of cap did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wear? What is the ruling on the insistence of those who insist on the round cap?

Answer

A round cap joined to the head (clinging to it), which is not high, is established by the noble hadith. However, this belongs to the customary sunnas (sunan ‘adiyya), not to the sunnas of guidance (sunan al-huda). So whoever follows it will be rewarded, but no one has the right to insist on it to the extent of reproaching the one who leaves it.
