Question

Question: Is it permissible for women to wear high shoes (?) or not? Also, what is the ruling on wearing mesh slippers (?), high heels, light backless shoes and the like? And is it permissible for men to wear boots, shoes and the like or not? And what is the ruling on women styling their hair, (wearing) clips and the like, and arranging the hair into a “flower” (?)? Also, what is the ruling on wearing a frock and a jumper? And is a pleated headscarf permissible for women or not?

Answer

The general principle here is that it is impermissible for women to wear clothing specific to men, and for men to wear clothing specific to women; the noble Prophet ﷺ cursed such men and women. Any clothing that is a distinctive mark (shi‘ar) of disbelievers or sinners (fasiqs)
