Women adopting the distinctive marks of the fasiqs and the sinful
Question
Question: There are the following queries regarding imitation (tashabbuh) in clothing and the like: (1) Are trousers with legs and the sari (an Indian women’s garment made of a long piece of cloth) permissible for women or not? And is the prayer valid when wearing a thick sari or not?
Answer
Where these are the distinctive mark (shi‘ar) of kafirs or fasiqs, they are impermissible; where they are common to all and are not their distinctive mark, they are permissible. Then, if the covering is complete, the prayer in them is also valid.
