Using Copper, Brass and Similar Vessels, Wearing the Dhoti and Waist-Cloth, and the Hookah
Question
What is the ruling on using untinned vessels of brass and copper, smoking the hookah, and wearing the dhoti (a wrap-around loincloth traditionally worn by Hindu men) and the waist-cloth?
Answer
Using brass and copper vessels is permissible; however, if there is resemblance to the kuffar, it is prohibited. Tying the waist-cloth in a way that exposes the ‘awra, or tying it in the manner of the kuffar, is impermissible, while tying it in accordance with the Shari‘a is permissible.
