Eating crow
Question
Question: What is the ruling on eating crow meat unconditionally (mutlaqan)? The qualification “unconditionally” is added because Hazrat Thanawi ﵀ said exactly this in his book. If it is the forest crow, then why did he say “unconditionally”? Please explain the reason.
Answer
Eating crow meat is not prohibited unconditionally (mutlaqan). This means that calling every kind of crow prohibited is wrong, because the crow that eats only grain is permissible by agreement, and the crow that eats only carrion and filth is impermissible by agreement; and the crow that eats grain and sometimes also filth or carrion takes the ruling of the chicken.
