Question: Hazrat Wala! The sunna greeting of salam! Your answer (B 438) has been received. Kindly write how to identify each of the three kinds of crow, along with their colour, so that the heart may be reassured.

Answer

The crow is of three kinds. The first is the crow that eats only grain and does not live in ordinary settlements but lives in the forest (the wild); it is completely halal, like the wild pigeon. The second is the crow that eats filth and carrion — this is its food; it is haram, like the vulture.
