Pig bristles in a brush: crockery and furniture painted with such a brush
Question
Nowadays everything is being coated with paint and varnish: furniture, china plates, enamel plates and other china crockery. This varnish is applied with a brush, and the brush contains pig bristles to a greater or lesser extent. Is it correct to eat from this crockery and to eat things placed on the furniture, or not?
Answer
Pig bristles are not mixed into it. If the crockery and furniture are clean, then merely because the painting was done with a brush of pig bristles they will not be called impure and impermissible — especially when the crockery has been washed and cleaned. It is a separate matter that using pig bristles is impermissible.
