Using brushes made of pig bristles

Question

Among the brushes for cleaning shoes and clothes that are sold nowadays, some contain pure pig bristles, and in some there is an admixture of other hair as well. The matters to be clarified are these: is it permissible to use these brushes for cleaning clothes and shoes or not? Is buying and selling them permissible or not?

Answer

If it is established by investigation that these brushes contain pure pig bristles, or that pig bristles predominate and the other hair is in the minority, then buying, selling and using them is prohibited.
