Inserting a hand when buying an animal to check whether it is pregnant

Question: Animal dealers, that is, those who buy and sell them, put a hand into the private part of the animal and check whether it is pregnant. How is this in the Shari‘a?

Answer

If there is no other way of knowing this, there is latitude for it; otherwise its repugnance is obvious.
