Hosting scholars in a room with pictures
Question
Question: If someone has pictures hanging in his home, will it not be a sin for scholars to go to him, sit in that room, have breakfast and eat, and not forbid it? If the pictures are turned over, will the repugnance be removed?
Answer
Scholars are obliged, according to their standing, to forbid the wrong (nahy ‘an al-munkar); abandoning this is a sin. Turning the pictures over will not remove the repugnance, though it will be somewhat concealed.
