Proof for accepting invitations to meals and for inviting others

Question

Question: I invited a friend of mine to my house for a meal, but that arrogant man did not come to the invitation and ate at his own home. Is this right or not? Some people say that eating at home is haram?

Answer

All people eat at their own homes, and when there is an occasion they also give invitations. The Prophet ﷺ himself ate at his own home and also fed others; and others too invited him, and he went and ate at the house of the one who invited him.
