Can a Shi‘i Be a Hafiz of the Qur’an?
Question
Can a Shi‘i be a hafiz of the Qur’an?
Answer
The Shi‘a have no faith in the Qur’an — they hold the doctrine of tahrif (distortion of the Qur’an); moreover, the noble Companions ﵃, who from the very beginning learned and received the Holy Qur’an from the Noble Messenger ﷺ, are not regarded by the Shi‘a as believers; on the contrary, they cast unjust slander upon them. For this reason they are not hafiz of the Qur’an.
