Was Hazrat Husayn ﵁ Martyred?

Question

May Hazrat Imam Husayn ﵇ be called a martyr (shahid)?

Answer

The event of Karbala is a matter of ijtihad, and according to the Ahl al-Sunna wa al-Jama‘a Hazrat Sayyiduna Imam Husayn ﵁ was in the right; therefore he was a martyr ﵁.
