Is Veneration of Yazid Obligatory?

Question

Is Yazid one whose veneration is obligatory (wajib al-ta‘zim)?

Answer

No one becomes deserving of obligatory veneration on account of wrong deeds; one becomes deserving of veneration on account of knowledge, [righteous] deeds, good character and beneficence. Yazid’s case is [to be judged] by this same rule.
