Calling Yazid a Tyrant
Question
Is it a crime according to the Sacred Law to speak ill of Yazid?
Answer
If some wrong and unlawful act of his — for instance, oppression of the Ahl al-Bayt (the Prophet’s ﷺ household) and the like — is established by sound narrations, then mentioning it when necessary and expressing aversion and abhorrence for the oppression is permissible according to the Sacred Law; however, it should not be made a pastime of gatherings.
