Robbers took the society’s money — who is liable for it
Question
Question: We have a society set up for our benefit, for example for books for reading and the like. Some cash has been collected in this society, and it belongs to the society itself. From this money we, the members of the society, may take a loan of 25 rupees in case of dire need. One member of this society was put in jail on account of his own personal actions.
Answer
The imprisoned member asked for a loan of money; the president of the society took a guarantee from the other members that, if that imprisoned member did not return the money, they would have to pay; they took on the responsibility.
