Unable to buy a ticket in haste, he gave the money to the train guard — is that sufficient
Question
Question: Once I had to go from Deoband to Saharanpur. When I reached the station, the train had already started, and I got on the moving train and because of the haste could not buy a ticket. At Patri station I met the guard, and he took seventy-five paise (small copper coins, fractions of a rupee) and said: “I will get you through the gate at Saharanpur.” And he did get me through the gate; he gave me neither a ticket nor a receipt. Most likely that money did not reach the railway department.
Answer
Since you travelled as far as Saharanpur and could not buy a ticket because of the haste, and, meeting the guard at Patri station, you also gave him the money (for the fare) from Patri to Saharanpur, but he gave neither a ticket nor a receipt, it is evident that this money was kept by a railway employee (the guard)
