Recovering a loss from a teacher’s salary
Question
Question: If a teacher of a religious madrasa causes some financial loss in which his intention played no part, is it correct to deduct the loss from his salary or not?
Answer
If he had been made a trustee (amin) and exercised full caution and protection, and the item was nevertheless lost unexpectedly, then no liability (daman) is binding on him, and deducting it from his salary is not correct.
