Selling bottles for wine

Question

A man works as a scrap dealer: he buys and sells old iron, plastic and empty bottles. Empty wine bottles also come into this, and he sells these bottles to a wine-maker, in which the wine-maker again sells wine. Is it permissible to sell wine bottles for the above-mentioned business?

Answer

If these bottles are used only for wine and are not used for any other purpose, then selling them is, in one respect, assisting those who sell and buy wine; and in the noble hadith a curse has come upon the one who sells wine and also upon the one who buys it, even if he does not drink it. Therefore one should refrain from this.
