Buying, selling and using radios

Question

Zayd works with radios and also keeps a radio at home. ‘Amr objects to this, saying that keeping a radio is impermissible. The question is: in what case may a radio be kept, and in what case may it not be kept?

Answer

On the radio there is recitation of the Noble Qur’an, there is tafsir, there are religious talks, true news is broadcast, and sound commentary is given on current affairs — listening to these things is permissible, and keeping a radio at home for this purpose is also permissible.
