Selling educational playing cards

Question

Question: What is the ruling on buying, selling and playing with educational playing cards in Urdu, Gujarati, Hindi and English?

Answer

In itself this is property of value (mal mutaqawwim), and buying and selling it is valid. However, these cards and playing with them are often a prelude to and a means of gambling (qimar), in that monetary winning and losing comes to be practised on them. Therefore one should refrain from buying and selling them and from playing with them.
