Selling mahua

Question

Is buying and selling mahua (the flowers of the Indian mahua tree) permissible when the one who takes it distils liquor from it?

Answer

Mahua in itself is neither impure (najis) nor intoxicating; selling it is permissible. If the buyer then, by his own act, makes liquor from it, that is his own act, and the seller of the mahua bears no responsibility for it. The seller himself, however, should not intend that he is selling it for making liquor.
