Selling leather used in band instruments
Question
Zayd runs a business buying and selling leather (hides) of various sizes that is fitted on the instruments of brass bands with drums. From the standpoint of the Shari‘a, are this livelihood and the income from it permissible or impermissible?
Answer
If that leather is used only for this purpose, then this business is makruh, although the price obtained does not become impermissible on that account.
