What is the ruling on selling goods covertly without paying sales tax?

Answer

Although trading in one’s own goods in whatever manner one wishes is permissible, concealing it from the sales-tax inspector and selling by stealth means putting one’s honour and property in danger, which is not in keeping with good sense.
