Handshake After the Eid Prayer

Question

Some people say that performing musafaha, that is, shaking hands, after the Eid prayer is makruh in every case. Please give the answer from the books of fiqh.

Answer

Yes, the custom of the Eid handshake that exists in some places is not right; it is a bid‘a and makruh. In the fifth volume of “Shami” (“Radd al-Muhtar”) it is quoted from numerous books of fiqh that it is a bid‘a and forbidden.
