Handshake After the Prayer

Question

After the Friday prayer, after the prayers of the two Eids and after the morning prayer, musafaha (the handshake) is performed in the mosque. What is the ruling on this in the Hanafi school, and what sin falls upon those who do not do it?

Answer

For musafaha the Sacred Law has appointed the time of the beginning of a meeting. To appoint for it a time after some prayer is without any basis in the Sacred Law and is wrong; it is a makruh bid‘a (a disliked innovation), it is the practice of the Rawafid.
