The Ruling on the “Secrets” (Rumuz) of Dervishes

Question

It is a well-known saying: “Who can know the secret (ramz) of the dervishes?” What is the reality of this?

Answer

As for the ramz (secret meaning) that accords with the Sacred Law, the Sacred Law itself has set out its ruling; and that which is contrary to the Sacred Law is misguidance (dalala) and transgression (fisq). As long as a person is in his senses, he is in no way permitted anything contrary to the Sacred Law, whether he be a dervish or anyone else, nor is it correct to follow…
