The Deceased Perceives the Time of ‘Asr in the Grave
Question
(1) When a Muslim deceased is buried, I have heard that for the deceased it is the time of ‘Asr. Is this correct? (2) What is the time of reckoning (hisab) for a non-Muslim deceased? Will he too perceive the time of ‘Asr? And where will the grave be established for that non-Muslim? Is a non-Muslim subjected to reckoning at all?
Answer
(1) After the deceased has been placed in the grave and buried, angels come, put his soul back into him and make him sit up. The dead person feels as though he had gone to sleep in the morning and has now awoken at the time of sunset, and he says: “Leave me, let me pray” (the thought of prayer will occur only to a Muslim).
