Do the Dead Recognise Their Kin and Intercede for Them?
Question
Question: After death, will the deceased — before the Day of Resurrection, on that day or after it — meet any of his relatives, for instance his mother, father, brother, sister, wife, children and so on, or not, and will he recognise them or not? And as for what is commonly held — that an infant who dies leaving someone behind will recognise its parents and secure forgiveness for them — to what extent is this correct?
Answer
The meeting of souls after death is established. It is related in a narration that the relatives of the deceased feel such joy as one’s relatives feel when a person returns from a journey; and they ask that soul about the condition of their other, still living, dear ones and rejoice at their well-being.
