Seeking Help from the People of the Graves

Question

Is it permissible to ask the (departed) awliya of Allah to fulfil one’s wishes or not, and what is the status of calling upon them for help from afar?

Answer

Wishes should be asked from Allah the Exalted alone. Calling upon any departed wali for help is forbidden. If there is the belief that, from wherever we call, the departed wali hears our call and comes to our help, then this belief is absolutely wrong, contrary to the teachings of Islam, and extremely dangerous.
