Asking One’s Needs from Spiritual Guides, Dervishes and the Like
Question
A person holds the belief that the Prophet ﷺ is not bashar (a human being) but nur (light) — that is, he is a portion separated from the light of God, or God created him from a luminous essence; that all the prophets ﵈ are knowers of the unseen, “of what was and what will be” (ma kana wa ma yakun), and are hadir wa nazir (present and watching)
Answer
Holding such beliefs is not correct; such a person must repent. If a person with such beliefs is viewed, in respect of these beliefs, in the light of the proofs, and is not rescued by means of a far-fetched interpretation (ta’wil ba‘id), he will not be called a believing monotheist (mu’min muwahhid); rather, the ruling of being a mushrik will be applied to him.
