A Verse Seeking Help from Piran-e Pir
Question
[ar]اللہ میرے بادشاہ ہیں محمد وزیر ٭ توڑ دو میری مصیبتیں کھول دو میری زنجیر ٭ مدد کر پیرانِ پیر[/ar] “Allah is my King, Muhammad the vizier; ٭ break my afflictions, unlock my chain; ٭ help, O Piran-e Pir (‘guide of guides’, an epithet of Shaykh ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani)!” — are words of this kind shirk?
Answer
Seeking help from Hazrat Piran-e Pir ﵋ (‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani) or from any other departed saint is not permissible. If, moreover, the belief is that they come to help and hear my voice, then this is shirk. Therefore one must never supplicate in this manner: supplication (du‘a)
