Offerings at shrines
Question
Question: If a free kitchen is run from the income of estates which kings made waqf in the name of spiritual guides, what is the ruling on that food? What is the ruling on eating what is offered to the guides? And what of the person who, while being observant of the Shari‘a, keeps taking a share of these offerings, quarrelling and wrangling over them as though they were ancestral inheritance?
Answer
…had given permission to run it, then it is permissible for a deserving person (mustahiqq) to eat of it. If these offerings are in the name of spiritual guides and shrines, then offering them and eating them is impermissible; and if they are for the poor of that place, then it is proper for the poor to eat them.
