Swearing by other than Allah

Question

Question: Is it permissible according to the noble Sacred Law to exact an oath or a sworn statement (half) in some worldly matter — an oath by anything other than God ﷿, or by the Glorious Qur’an, like the Christians’ Bible, taking it in the hand, or placing it in the middle, or placing it on the head? And that merely out of spite, envy and enmity?

Answer

It is better not to swear. If a need arises, it is permissible to swear by Allah or by any name or attribute from among His names and attributes, but swearing less is in any case preferable. Swearing by the Noble Qur’an is prohibited; nevertheless, if someone has sworn, the oath comes into being (becomes binding).
