An oath by the Holy Word: a wife swore not to allow her husband intimacy

Question

Question: A woman, swearing by the Holy Word (the Qur’an), said to her husband: “From this day on I will never allow intimacy.” From that date until today the two have not come together — more than a year has passed since then. Now the woman invites her husband, but the husband feels aversion towards her; two children have also been born to them.

Answer

If that woman wishes to be intimate with her husband, let her permit him intimacy; indeed, let her herself arouse his desire and make him willing; then, after intimacy, let her pay the expiation of the oath. The door will be opened for the future, and from intimacy there will be neither sin nor expiation.
