“If I do such-and-such, I shall eat swine” — is this an oath?

Question

Question: A person said: “If I do such-and-such a thing, I shall eat the flesh of swine.” Will the expiation (kaffara) of an oath fall upon this person, or only repentance and seeking forgiveness (istighfar)?

Answer

Expiation is not wajib upon him; let him repent and seek forgiveness (istighfar).
