The ruling on adjuring another by an oath

Question

Question: If one adjures someone by an oath, does an oath come into being thereby?

Answer

If something was said to a person while adjuring him by an oath, then neither an oath nor that matter becomes binding upon him thereby. However, if on account of this adjuring he himself also swears, then the oath comes into being.
