Description

Carnauba wax (E903) is a plant wax from the leaves of the Brazilian palm Copernicia cerifera: the leaves are dried and threshed, the powder is melted out with water or extracted with solvents, and purified by filtration, bleaching clays and hydrogen peroxide. The sources name no animal raw material in the wax itself. Possible links are the purification stage and commercial forms: oxalic acid (c3)
