الْحَلَالُ بَيِّنٌ وَالْحَرَامُ بَيِّنٌ، وَبَيْنَهُمَا مُشَبَّهَاتٌ لَا يَعْلَمُهَا كَثِيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ، فَمَنِ اتَّقَى الْمُشَبَّهَاتِ اسْتَبْرَأَ لِدِينِهِ وَعِرْضِهِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The lawful is clear and the unlawful is clear, and between them are doubtful matters that many people do not know. Whoever guards against the doubtful matters protects his religion and his honor.”

E340 Potassium phosphates — is it halal?

Description

Mono-, di- and tripotassium phosphate. Per EFSA, the BREF and China — neutralising phosphoric acid (E338) with potassium hydroxide (in China the only base for mono- and di-salts) or carbonate. Since 2021 China allows purified wet acid besides thermal. No animal feedstock in the norms; acid links carried over from E338 (c20–c38), calcium phosphates of a fertiliser route — from E341 (c39–c51)
