Broth / stock (meat, bone) — is it halal?
Ruling: Haram
Description
Broth — a product of boiling slaughter products (meat, bones, offal), with or without subsequent concentration and/or drying; for poultry also hydrolysis. Used in concentrates, cubes, powders, soups and sauces. In the EAEU a broth label states the group (“meat”, “poultry”), not the animal species; under Codex “meat bouillon” is made from beef with or without other meats.
Basis of the ruling
Broth is the product of boiling meat, bones and offal, concentrated or dried; it goes into stock cubes, concentrates, soups and sauces. Boiling does not change the essence of what was boiled.
