Receiving Zakat and Giving It to One’s Father

Question

Also: the adult children give it to Zayd, and Zayd puts it to use for the needs of his children — is this permissible or not?

Answer

If the adult children are recipients of zakat, then it is proper for them to take it and use it themselves, and to give it to the father or to anyone else who is not entitled to zakat; and it is then also proper for them to take it, use it themselves, and spend it on the children and so forth.
