Grass in the graveyard
Question
Grass grows in our graveyard. Is it permissible to let animals — cows, oxen, buffaloes — graze there, to earn income from it, and to spend it on the mosque, or not?
Answer
Selling grass that has grown of itself without cutting it — for example, by letting cows and the like loose there so that they graze on it themselves and taking payment for this — such a transaction is not correct in the Shari‘a, and it is also contrary to respect for the graves.
