Having children recite na‘ts for the purpose of education
Question
For the purpose of education, small children are made to recite a na‘t (poem in praise) of the radiant Prophet in the mornings, so that the children become keen and other children come to study. Is this correct according to the Shari‘a or not?
Answer
Salawat and salam upon the Prophet ﷺ are in themselves an act of nearness (qurba) and a blessing. Let everyone — children and adults alike — recite them. But the demand of reverence and respect is that each person should recite separately, sitting in solitude.
