Salaries paid from a waqf

Question

(1) May those connected with awqaf be paid salaries from the income of the awqaf or not? And if they may, then how much? (2) If someone connected with awqaf (a teacher of a madrasa or the imam of a mosque) goes to perform the obligatory (fard) Hajj, will he be entitled to his salary for the days of absence or not?

Answer

If the waqif (endower) recorded in the waqf deed the payment of salaries to the teacher of the madrasa and the imam of the mosque but did not specify the amount of the salary in any way, the salary will be given according to need and custom (‘urf).
