Having the sacrifice performed elsewhere by sending money
Question
Zayd was born in Kanpur, was brought up in that city and has also settled there, but he performs the sacrifice of a cow, goat and the like in his home town by sending money there. Partly because of convenience regarding the amount, and partly because the sacrifice of cows and the like is not permitted in the city of Kanpur, he has it performed in his home town. Is this correct or not? Should he perform the sacrifice in his own city, or may he perform it in another city where his relatives and kin live?
Answer
The sacrifice is valid in this way too; but the merit of performing the sacrifice with one’s own hand and of eating the meat of one’s own sacrifice will not be attained.
