Wool of the sacrificial animal before slaughter
Question
Question: Zayd bought a fat-tailed ram for the sacrifice; it has a considerable amount of wool, and the wool is valuable. Zayd wants to shear the wool and put it to his own use or sell it. What is the Shar‘i ruling on this?
Answer
Zayd should not do so; and if he has sheared the wool, he should give it away in charity (sadaqa) (“Alamgiri”, vol. 4, p. 106).
