Sacrificing a fat-tailed ram less than a year old

Question

Question: I have heard that a fat-tailed ram is permissible even if it is less than a year old. Is this correct?

Answer

If the fat-tailed ram is so fat and large that, when it is let in among year-old rams, it too appears to be a year old and does not appear small, then such a ram that is under a year — even eight or nine months old — is also valid (“Zayla‘i”, vol. 6, p. 7).
